The New South Cemetery in Perlach on Hochäckerstraße was planned by garden and landscape architect Gottfried Hansjakob and completed in 1977. It is the only Munich cemetery to have a hilly layout. The paths around the lake invite you to stroll and linger. There are also large areas without graves, some with so-called sage-smooth-oat meadows. There are retreat and breeding areas for birds around the lake. In the cemetery there is a historic Celtic hill from around 500 BC. Chr.
