Rising as a separate upland directly west of the Black Mountains massif, Mynydd Llangorse is an easily accessible summit that boasts wonderful views across this beautiful part of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The hill and the many bridleways and byways that surround it are enjoyed by hikers, horse riders and mountain bikers alike.
There are myriad ways onto Mynydd Llangorse’s green flanks, including paths via the higher but more compact Mynydd Troed to the north. Llangorse Lake, a popular beauty spot and South Wales’ largest natural lake, lies to the west of the hill, alongside the amenities of Llangors village. More accommodation for the region can be found in Talybont-on-Usk, Brecon and Talgarth.
The panorama from the summit trigpoint is excellent. Patchwork fields surround the glistening Llangorse Lake to the west, while beyond the Usk Valley rise the Central Beacons, crowned by Pen y Fan. In the east, the flat, long ridgelines of the Black Mountains merge at Waun Fach, the highest point in the range.
