The Eichkopf nature reserve was used by the military for a long time, namely by the American armed forces. At the entrance on Wintersteinstrasse you will find a number of conspicuous stones that were part of an anti-tank barrier at the time. At the US garrison stationed in nearby Friedberg, a soldier served in the late 1950s who is known to the general public under the name Elvis Presley. This stay has left traces in Friedberg and Bad Nauheim to this day, and it has also been immortalized here on the Winterstein.
