  • Threatened by increasing danger of flooding, 15 km from downtown Hamburg, Allermöhe - like many other villages in the Marschlande - had to elevate the Elbe dikes in 1331. The funds were obtained through the sale of the bells from the then dedicated to the Apostle Peter Allermöher Church (now the Trinity Church Allermöhe - Reitbrook). The wooden belfry of the church, which was mentioned for the first time in writing on the occasion of the sale, is considered the oldest building of the Marschlande. The tower was built as it is typical for the region, detached and carries a bronze bell from 1483.In 1611-14, the Trinity Church was rebuilt as an elongated half-timbered church on the existing bell tower and rebuilt in 1750. The oak wood frame is white and stands in contrast to the red, in artistic ornamentation masonry brick of the divisions. In 1750, the Trinity Church Allermöhe-Reitbrook was given a new south side of timber framing and a new pitched roof with a wide cantilevered cornice typical of the area. The facades are structured by coupled arched windows. Inside, a wooden barrel vault with drawbar spans the nave, which is decorated with rustic-simple ceiling paintings. Between the barrel and the wall there is a painting with Salvator and the four evangelists from 1725 as well as some simile scenes from the year 1930. An artistically carved and colored winged altar by Hein Baxmann from Hamburg, from the years 1613/14, with a Last Supper image from 1953, an altar loft from 1724 with parapets of the Passion, a carved pulpit from 1901 and several sandstone terracotta plates of the 17th century are still original. Already since 1921 the Trinity Church Allermöhe-Reitbrook is a listed building. In 2002 and 2003, the German Foundation for Monument Protection financed necessary repairs to the nave and the bell tower. These included the roof construction and roofing of the nave, the façade framework and the tower roof.Source:

  • The Evangelical Lutheran Trinity Church is located in the street village of Allermöhe. It was consecrated on February 2, 1614. The wooden bell tower (bell stack) from the 15th century, which dates from the previous church, is said to be the oldest surviving structure in the marshlands. Also noteworthy is the winged altar created by the Hamburg sculptor and woodcarver Hein Baxmann in 1613/1614.
