The construction work was carried out by the Demmin master builder Ernst Bauckmeier. In 1992, the exterior of the brick-built church underwent a major restoration for the first time.
The Catholic Church in Demmin, consecrated in 1915, was the place of activity of Pastor Adolph Noleweika and Pastor Heinrich Wessels, an honorary citizen of Demmin.
