Part of the Granite Way and National Cycle Route 27 (Drake's Trail), Meldon Viaduct was built to carry rail traffic. The trains stopped in the early 90s, the viaduct being deemed too weak and shortly after, it was converted to a cycle and footpath.

High above the West Okement River just north of Meldon Reservoir, the viaduct appears rather suddenly as you peddle along from Okehampton. Made of iron, it offers fantastic views both up and downriver, with Yes Tor, Dartmoor's second-highest summit, rising just behind. It's one of two viaducts on the Granite Way and well worth seeing.

Great riding and views. Easy access from the Granite Way cycle route. Best to ride in good weather as it's very exposed.
