The trench located here is a remnant of the "Hohen Strasse" (military and trade route). It was the main connection between Cologne and Frankfurt in the Middle Ages until the 16th century. About 40 meters further is the "fabulous" trumpeter hole. The stagecoach attack, known from legend, took place here.
