The last, completely preserved watch tower of the medieval early warning system for Göttingen. The tower guards should warn the city of approaching enemies. The last salary for this tower guard is listed in the Göttingen chamberlain's book from 1550.
Medieval round tower, built in 1409 as part of the Göttingen Landwehr, control point at the passage of the military and trade route from Göttingen to Thuringia on the Diemardener Berg between Geismar and Diemarden. The old trunk road is well preserved here as a ravine section. Access on this (today dirt road) from both directions.
