The Burren's history stretches back thousands of years when it was inhabited by humans. There is evidence of human presence in the region going back as far as 6,000 years. Over the centuries the Burren has been an important source of limestone used around Galway and Limerick. Today, the Burren is known for its unique flora and fauna and stunning scenery.

The Burren Limestone Walk is a 7km loop walk that takes approximately 2 hours to complete. The route passes through the arid landscape of the Burren and offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and sea. There are numerous interesting geological formations along the way, such as rock arches and karst landscapes created by the erosion of limestone.

During the walk you can also discover a variety of rare plant species that thrive in this unique environment, including orchids, lilies and gentians. If you're lucky, you may also spot wildlife such as foxes, hares and badgers that are native to the region.
