With the construction of the Nidau-Büren Canal, the large Aare loop was cut off and it has become still water. It is only connected to the river at the lower, eastern end. Since 1928, the upper part of this oxbow lake with the alluvial forests has been placed under nature protection. An excellent place for bird watching too.

From here you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Jura chain and the Häftli nature reserve, which is more than 10 meters below. Unfortunately, the stairs to the viewing platform are spiral-shaped and very, very narrow. Crossbreeding is not possible and people with a little more corpulence have a hard time here.
