The Landgrave was built in 1891 and operated as a restaurant by Carl Köhler, among others, in 1927.
In GDR times, the Landgrave was a HO restaurant until it was closed in 1993.
After 12 years of vacancy, the Landgrave was acquired by Klauspeter Michel and lovingly renovated in just 10 months according to old templates.
On the historic day, the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Jena / Auerstedt, October 14, 2006, the restaurant and guesthouse were opened and are today again one of the most attractive excursion destinations in Thuringia.
On November 20, 2006, the city of Jena named the Landgrave the winner of the 2006 Facade Prize.
