The Jenisch Haus is one of the most beautiful historic buildings in Hamburg and offers a small oasis for nature lovers with the adjacent landscaped garden and breathtaking view over the Elbe. In 1834, Senator Martin Johann Jenisch had the neoclassical mansion built for himself and his family. He had acquired the site in 1828 from the Hamburg merchant Caspar Voght, who had already created a landscaped garden there in the style of an "ornamented farm" from 1785, a mixture of kitchen garden and park. In 1927 the city of Altona leased the park, and in 1939 the city of Hamburg bought it.

The Jenisch House was completed in 1834. It was commissioned by Martin Johann Jenisch, who also owned the entire Jenisch Park. He had it built on the highest point in the park. I always visit it when I'm in the park. But I've never been inside.

The Jenisch-Haus is a classical country house in Klein Flottbek, which allows a wide view of the Elbe near Teufelsbrück across a park. The Museum of Art and Culture on the Elbe is run as a branch of the Altonaer Museum.
