The Raspaille forest is an important target for tens of thousands of birds on their annual migration south. The rich population of birds of prey in the Raspaille forest – buzzard, kestrel, honey buzzard, hawk, little owl – testify to a healthy food pyramid in the forest. Tawny owl, red squirrel, weasel, ermine, polecat, fox and roe deer find shelter in the Raspaille forest. Also noteworthy are the fire salamander, the slow worm and the acorn mouse.
