The place was named after King Wilhelm I of Württemberg. He sold the land to the settlers. But otherwise very well researched 😃

In the early 19th century, Christians in Württemberg were dissatisfied with the Protestant regional church and wanted more religious freedom. They then received the privilege of founding a religious settlement in Korntal near Stuttgart. Nevertheless, the pressure to emigrate did not ease, so that a spin-off of Korntal in the sterile Pfrunger-Burgweiler Ried was started.
Gottlieb Wilhelm Hoffmann sold the land for this purpose. The village was named after him.
As a result, many social and diaconal institutions developed with over 3000 employees today.
One can see from this to this day how much the Pietists took the commandment to love one's neighbor seriously and put it into practice.
The central building in the village is the prayer room, completed in 1828.
