Ich durfte meinen Freunden aus Berlin und Ruth einen Teil des Simmentaler Hauswegs zeigen – ein Weg, der an herrlichen Holzhäusern vorbeiführt, die teils auf das 15. Jahrhundert (Ende 1400er Jahre) zurückgehen. Die meisten stammen jedoch aus dem 16. bis 18. Jahrhundert. In dieser Zeit brachte der Handel mit Simmentaler Kühen großen Wohlstand ins Tal, und die Bauern investierten diesen in prächtige Holzbauwerke im sogenannten „jüngeren Simmentaler Stil“. Viele der Häuser sind heute denkmalgeschützt und faszinieren mit kunstvollen Fassaden, Blockbauweise und typischer Fensterteilung. Die Häuser sind natürlich noch bewohnt – zu besichtigen also nur von außen, doch der Anblick lohnt sich allein schon. Wer möchte, den begleite ich gerne persönlich auf diesem Weg und erzähle unterwegs noch mehr Geschichten zur Architektur, zur Geschichte und zu den Menschen hinter den Fassaden.
