Reefs in the Ries?
The Kühstein geotopes are located on the southern edge of the crater on the outskirts of Mönchsdeggingen. Here, two quarries offer insights into the geological past of the region: We look at relics of a 160 million year old reef belt and the remains of an estuary delta of the Rieskrater lake. On a 2.7 km long nature trail, eight event boards explain the phenomena of geotopes and biological and historical features.The site is usually public.translated by
