The Rhenish Donkey is the name of the railway line opened in 1880 between Dortmund-Löttringhausen and Bochum-Langendreer. Passenger services were discontinued in 1979. If you believe the numerous corresponding legends, the extremely unusual name of the route comes from the numerous market women who carried their goods with them like donkeys with their packs. Today's cycle path is very well signposted and marked in both directions via the NRW cycle traffic network and its own pictogram.

Good route to cross Witten without traffic. Especially at the Dortmund end, there is a fairly green area.
