Hiking

Five gurgling fountains decorate Stortorget, Kalmar's Grand Square on the island of Kvarnholmen. It was built during the mid 17th century around Kalmar Cathedral as a large flat rectangle 90 metres wide and 110 metres long. A large portion of the square is built from cobblestones that vary in size and color. The pedestrian zone with small stores also adjoins here.

The market square in the old town is a great place to linger.

The bars and restaurants on the square and in the streets are also well attended in the evening.
