Built in 1826 on a medieval vaulted cellar

Konsistoriehuset is a building on the north side of Ågatan, the Apostle District, northwest of Linköping Cathedral, and is part of the Diocese of Linköping, which uses it for administrative purposes.

The building was built between 1827 and 1830 after drawings by the architect Jacob Wilhelm Gerss and used between 1830 and 1864 as a trivial school, forerunner of the educational institution (high school, today's cathedral school). When the school moved into a new building in 1864, the present-day town hall of Linköping, the cathedral captain took over the building.
On the property in front of the building were two wings, which were on a map from 1867 to see, but were demolished later, of which the West was a gymnasium house. It was replaced in 1881 by the gymnasium building, which is still located opposite the consistory building on the south side of the Ågatan.

In 1875, the consistorial house was extended to the west by drawings by Johan Fredrik Åbom to house the diocesan library. When it was decided in 1926 to merge the diocesan library with the City Library of 1924, which was housed in the Town Hall, a circular extension to drawings by Erik Hahr was made on the reverse (north), which was inaugurated on 4 June 1928 as Linköping's diocesan and national library. The library moved in 1973 to a new building on the south side of Ågatan, which burnt down in 1996.
