The Silves Pillory is a historical symbol of justice and urban autonomy, dating back to the 16th century. It stands on a four-step plinth and consists of a stone column with simply decorated capitals. It was once used to publicly display criminals as punishment. Located near the old town, the pillory is a silent witness to Silves's judicial and administrative past.
