The beach of Porto Novo reaches out along the mouth of the river. A great park with water, restrooms and picnic facilities lies on the inland southern side of the bridge. A tiled display provides some historic context.

Porto Novo Beach is located in the municipality of Torres Vedras, Portugal, at the mouth of the Alcabrichel River. The beach is framed by cliffs that conceal prehistoric remains and offers a picturesque and tranquil setting, ideal for families and those seeking relaxation.

Characteristics and attractions
Natural beauty: Situated between vegetation-covered cliffs, the beach's landscape is characterized by the meeting of the river with the sea. The sand is coarser, but the beach is clean and access is good.

Access and facilities: It has adequate infrastructure with freshwater showers, wheelchair-accessible restrooms, parking, and some restaurants and bars with terraces.

Cycle paths: Porto Novo Beach is the end point of the Ciclovia das Praias (Beaches Cycle Path), which connects it to Santa Cruz. The cycle path, in turn, connects to the Ecopista do Sizandro (Sizandro Ecotrail), offering an option for cyclists and walkers.

Activities: In addition to sunbathing and swimming, the location is ideal for hiking, cycling, and paragliding on the cliffs.
Trails: The region offers several trails, including the Passadiços das Escarpas (Escarpment Walkways), with incredible views of the ocean and the Alcabrichel River.
Near Vimeiro: The beach is close to the Vimeiro thermal complex, which offers attractions such as a golf course, equestrian center, and swimming pools.
History: The beach is historically known for being the landing site of British troops during the First Napoleonic Invasion, at the Battle of Vimeiro in 1807.
