Cool (22) and cloudy this morning, sunny and 36 degrees by the time we arrived in Èvora.
Today's goal was to use a lot of battery and go fast. Mission accomplished.

A very fast ride! After a small climb out of Merida we picked up a good tailwind and cold maintain about 30 kph on the flat sections without much effort. Komoot did an excellent job of routing us through Badajoz and into Elvas. Nice little campground here.

Very easy day, first 10 K is climbing and then it's really an easy coast into Merida.
Arrived in Merida during a festival (accidentally of course),everyone was running around dressed in Roman costumes and consuming copious amounts of alcohol, which made for a fun afternoon.

Nice short ride, Zafra is a pretty town worthy of a visit. Ruta da Plata continued to be quiet and mostly free of traffic, aside from the Camino de Santiago people.

The Ruta de la Plata was quiet and peaceful with enough diversity of terrain and a few picturesque towns to pass through to keep things interesting. This was once a very busy national route, however, now that there's an expressway paralleling it, there is only local traffic. Lots of elevation gain today.

Just a short day to get clear of Sevilla. Only one small detour, otherwise a fun day.

There is a story behind the iconic bull on the hilltop. Looking into what the towers with rays of light are, found this simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/PS10_solar_power_plant.

Another day with great tailwinds, again minimal need for the batteries. Nice route, good road surfaces, good shoulders, mostly polite drivers. Interesting food options here.

Nice route, big tailwind so no need for batteries! Mostly sunny, nice roads, minimal traffic.
The last time we took this ferry was 1998. We had to change our Spanish pesetas for Portuguese escudos and have our passports stamped entering Portugal.

Huge tailwinds yesterday and today, really didn't need the batteries at all either day. I'm feeling sorry for those cycling north, hard work!

There were a few extra kilometers on today's ride so that we could stop by Decathlon, which is located more or less half way to Spain from Sétubal, which caused half of the team to threaten mutiny.

Great test for the impermeability of our tent and rain gear. Hard rain until around 12:00, then mild. Sunny afternoon!

Being back on home turf, we made good use of the e-bike option today with the goal of having lunch on the ocean. Tribo made us feel welcome and we celebrated with a nice meal.
Peniche has added a ferris wheel (rota gigante) and it appears there's a big oceanography symposium going on. A person leaves
