The "Breitenstein" refers to the dry grassland slope (nature reserve) on the north side of Pottenstein, which is regularly grazed by a wandering shepherd. It is located at an altitude of 430 meters. Panorama paths with access from the Bürgerspital (cemetery) or via the Bayreuther Berg offer wonderful views of the rock town. This area is characterized by its unique, dry, and sunny slopes, which host special flora and fauna. Due to its particular vegetation and its importance for nature conservation, the dry slopes are a valuable habitat that is protected to preserve the diverse flora and fauna.
