The church is dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul and is registered under number 69 in the list of architectural monuments in Blankenheim (Ahr).

A church in Blankenheimerdorf already existed in the 13th century. The current building, with the exception of the bell tower, was built between 1684 and 1687 at the instigation of Count Salentin Ernst von Manderscheid-Blankenheim. The consecration took place on May 24, 1687. In 1852, the older bell tower was demolished and replaced by a new one. In 1853, the wooden ceiling was renewed and in 1899 a sacristy was added. In 1991, the interior of the church was completely renovated.
