The Wildgutachtal is a premium highlight in the Black Forest. The small lane meanders along the river with a gentle incline through the partly gorge-like valley, usually with minimal traffic. Pleasantly cool in summer, but often surprisingly cold in spring. Absolutely enjoy going uphill, it rolls nice downhill, but the narrow, winding road requires attention - oncoming drivers do not always have a good feeling for the width of their vehicles.

Quite a picturesque location, but definitely not an insider tip - the Hexenlochmühle is usually very well attended. On the other hand, the access from all directions is wonderful - but if you count on help being called quickly by cell phone in the event of a flat tire, you should have a hose with you for once - the network coverage is rather patchy....

A small side road with little traffic leads through the partly gorge-like valley of the Wilden Gutach. The route begins at the first serpentine of the country road to Furtwangen. First it goes a few meters downhill, then the road runs gently uphill in the valley floor to the Hexenlochmühle. At the Hexenloch you can either turn right in the direction of St.Märgen or left in the direction of Furtwangen. Both alternatives are recommended, the alternative up to St. Märgen is described here. The increase then picks up significantly, but not steeper than 10%.
In order to be able to really enjoy the landscape, which is well worth seeing, we recommend driving uphill, downhill you should keep your eyes on the road, as it is very narrow and winding.
