Near (below) Wolkenstein Castle, in an approximately 80 m high rock formation, lies the Wolfsschlucht. This makes the impressive descent possible with a view of the Zschopautal.

The origin of the name Wolfschlucht does not come - as suspected - from wolves in the Ore Mountains, but is said to come from the sounds of the wind when it blows over the rock and through the gorge and "howls". The Wolfsschlucht and its rocks also attract experienced climbers.

The rest area below the rock formation is located directly on the Zschopau, information boards give a detailed overview of the climbing rocks and their level of difficulty.
