For me, the new lighthouse is not as nice as the old one, but it is definitely a highlight and a marker on the island. You can see him from many places and as a landmark on the way to the West, he is great!

The new lighthouse Wangerooge is approx. 65m high and thus one of the highest lighthouses in Germany.
It is surrounded by an embankment that is accessible and from which one has a nice panoramic view.

The building height of 67m given in Wikipedia would mean that it would be the highest lighthouse in Germany. The sign next to the lighthouse says that this is the height above sea level. In addition, the foot of the lighthouse is surrounded by the earth embankment, so that only about 60m are visible.

The new lighthouse is functional, but unfortunately it has no charm - the old lighthouse is something special
