As early as 1852, the decision was made to build a church in Blankenberg, as the church in Arlas had to be closed due to collapse danger. However, the construction project failed time and again to the necessary financial means. After a Ministerial Declaration of the Royal Bavarian State Ministry on April 14, 1860, preceded by negotiations between Bavaria and Prussia since 1856, Blankenberg finally got its own parish and was separated from the mother church in Berg (Wikipedia).
