    Necropolis...necropolis for 938 graves.

This approximately 5,000 year old passage grave was excavated in 1883. The 6.2 x 1.65 m chamber consists of 11 supporting stones on which there are four cap stones.

In Soderstorf you drive on Wohlenbütteler Straße for about 1.3 kilometers east to the facility, which is on the right of the street. Behind the grave there is still a Bronze Age burial ground.

The grave field is located directly on a street and is easy to reach. Benches available to take a short break

The Soderstorf necropolis is one of the stone testaments to the past in the region, where there is a unique concentration of ancient relics on a small area covered in heather. The complex consists, among other things, of a Bronze Age barrow, stone circles and an urn cemetery from the Iron Age.
The most impressive is the large stone grave from the Neolithic period, whose six-meter-long chamber covered by boulders is accessible.
If you want to find out how people lived 5,000 years ago and how they built the huge megalithic graves, we recommend visiting other surrounding large stone graves and the Archaeological Museum.

Unfortunately, the complex was a bit unkempt when I visited and the graves were not as clearly visible as they are on Wikipedia. Maybe that will change.

An Iron Age cemetery as an impressive monument of earlier culture.
