The town of Bönnigheim was Ganerbenstadt for around 400 years until 1753 and was therefore divided into four parts. The four castles and palaces that can still be seen in the town still bear witness to this today.
The fountain in the center of the market square is reminiscent of the inheritances of Liebenstein, Neipperg, Gemmingen and Sachsenheim thanks to its coat of arms.
