Gerkes quarry - bulging rock formations
Discover petrified, bulging slide structures that formed on the sea floor around 320 million years ago and find out why a volcanic eruption near Welleringhausen is responsible for this.
You will find the quarry above the village in the direction of Usseln. From the parking lot on the L854, walk below the parking lot into the forest, after about 100m you will reach Gerkes Steinbruch.
