If you are on the Roan Trail to Sauberg Trail is worth the detour on the Habsburg wait not only because of the great view, but also because of the extra altitude and a very nice opportunity for a short rest.

A strange comic tower with a great view of Vienna. He stands on the highest elevation and should be scheduled with every tour!

The Habsburg Observatory is located on the 542 m high Hermannskogel in Vienna. It is 27 meters high and has the shape of a medieval fortified tower. The architect Franz von Neumann is responsible for the external appearance.
he Habsburgwarte was donated by the Austrian Tourist Club in 1888 to mark the 40th anniversary of the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph I and opened in 1889. In 1972 it was placed under monument protection. It is still operated by the ÖTK as an observation tower and is open to the public on weekends from spring to late autumn (approx. April to November) for a small entrance fee. However, there are also appointments at other times for registered groups.
The fundamental point of the Austrian national survey is located on the viewing platform of the Habsburgwarte. u.k. Military Geographical Institute was determined.
During the Second World War, the Habsburg Watchtower was damaged. The EVN, which is allowed to use the building as a directional radio station, was helpful in the repair.
