Today's Kreuzeichenwiese is named after a historical field and meadow name. The date of the naming is unknown. On the Kreuzeichenwiese there are boundary stones with the inscription "BAZS" (Benno Abt zu Schotten) and various dates (1780-1793). They point out that the meadow once belonged to the Wiener Schottenstift.
