The ascent of Gumpoldskirchen via the Kaisergerndlweg is probably the only one that was missing in my Anninger collection. Start as often behind the Gumpoldskirch castle, where you have the opportunity: 1. left along the wall, 2. straight on towards the mountain or 3. take a street to the top right. Today was No. 3 turn. Follow the blue-white mark where you come to Richardshof: golf course, stables, inn. As you go past the parking lot in front, after the last building turn left and uphill. Then it is quite unspectacular, but still very beautiful through the forest up, past huge shrubs with forest berries, until you come out after a good hour total walking time at Anningerhaus and a rest with a beer almost imposing. We wanted to get down quickly, because we left so late and chose the Kalenderweg down, which also goes down directly at the Anningerhaus back to the quarry and then past the 12 chapels of the crossroads. Alternative and almost equally fast descent would be via the Siebenbrunnen Graben with the old transformer station for the Nazi radio and the associated cooling water house. This route with more information can be found here: komoot.de/tour/14187733This weekend was also Genussmeile with loud Heurigen stalls from Mödling to Baden. Due to the weather, many people were brutally on the way. I had to take advantage of the opportunity for a white spray. Is a super fine tour, with about 2 hours walking time (plus stop at the Anningerhaus + arrival / return) can spontaneously do.

What a November day! I'm in Vorarlberg again for the weekend and the weather had to be exploited. For many locals probably a standard route, but not yet on Komoot.
The route goes a short distance on the country road until you reach the Ortscahft Klaus, and then you are away from the traffic. The route between Klaus and Fraxern, called "Orsanka", is also closed to motorized traffic. Now in the fall you drive through a fantastically colored foliage forest, until you reach Fraxern. From there in the sun the steep road up to the football field. (In the summer it could probably be hot.) A funny Unikum that a small mountain village has a large enough area, where you can build a fairly large football field.
From the football field goes like that. "Kugelweg" always upwards until you reach Alpe Maisäß. Currently (11/2018) the corn is always SA + SO managed. If you arrive up there, you have truly earned a beer! Or two.

What October in 2018! In the middle of October in a t-shirt at 1.200m!To the tour: Starting point is in Ramsau. From there it goes first over the highway. Now I know again why I ride mountain bike and not racing bike. Not only because of the exhaust fumes, which one gets off as a street driver, but because one is also frightened, if one overhauls with over 100 km / h.
Directions by car. Not great about the ecological footprint, but I do not go skiing. So I'm allowed to sit in the car for an hour to get somewhere.
The ride in the woods was great afterwards. Completely undisturbed, not even hikers were initially seen until I reached the lower mountain. There is a plateau below the summit with a church and two inns. In winter, here is a ski resort, so the good infrastructure. But my goal was the Kieneck with the Enzianhütte on the summit. And reaching this second peak was brutally tough afterwards. This last climb in the elevation profile has it all: right loose gravel road, I saw nothing from the ground, because the forest road is hardly traveled and everything was full of leaves (but looked nice) and then kams then violently: It was so steep that I had to push in parts. I was seriously thinking of breaking it off, but first of all I would be defeated myself, on the other hand I had nothing left to drink and up in the hut I was expecting cold beer. So I pulled myself together and went up or left the last section. The departure was great. Good brakes are needed, because you covered many meters in a short distance. But all forest and no problem. Below, I saw that there is a ban on cycling on the track. But coming from the top was nowhere a blackboard. And I can not clairvoyant either.

Second attempt with the Drecks-Komoot. Just do not sync with the app. After 6 days of muscle soreness and pain I was quite right that the planning for today was gentler. By car we went to Mönichkirchen, to the valley station of the chairlift. With the chairlift we went a bit further up. From there continue on foot. Already here was a wonderful panorama with a view of the surrounding mountains. To go it was solala in the beginning, because we were still in a ski resort and walked parallel to another chairlift, but in the summer is not in operation. But as soon as we got further up, where there were no more ski slopes, we were in a fantastic hiking area. Not only did I think of a fairytale forest. The highest point was reached quite quickly, the Niederwechsel, with 1,617m. However, it was so windy that we quickly made the descent again. It was planned that we would stop at the hut about 100 meters below the altitude. But the hut is obviously run by the farmers, who keep the cattle up here and after already Almabtrieb was, the hut was unfortunately no longer farmed. So we are on again. The descent was really great and varied, even if short passages went on a forest road.So we returned to the starting point of the hike. Exciting was the drive down to the parking lot. Instead of going down with the chairlift, we are down the forest road with such a three-wheeled gocart. That was a really entertaining end to our hike.I'll definitely do the round again someday. We were on a Friday and so was despite the entertainment for families and kids pretty little going on. At a SA or SO certainly looks different.

On today's tour we wanted to follow the promising description of this tip by Bernd Orfer, where we started the descent directly at the mountain station of the Rax cable car:
derstandard.at/1216918855865/Leitungswasser-vom-Raxkoenig"The combination of the romantic-picturesque fire cutting edge with the water pipe route is almost unbeatable, and it also has the advantage that you can save yourself an arduous climb by using the cable car."Sounds great, right? However, the requirements "sure-footedness and a good head for heights as well as good shoes" are somewhat low stacked. There are passages where you hardly know how to get down. ;-) Thank God it was consistently dry today, because if the stones had been wet, we would have probably turned around and would be back up.The over 1,300 Hm descent hew neatly clean. I'm looking forward to the sore muscles tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.More description just take from the standard article.Anyway, I will not go down there - if, then turn around and RAUF go down and the cable car down. Or. down the Gsol brain trail. You can see that here in the height profile well, that this is clearly less steep, or the steep passages are shorter:

Second and last hiking day in the Saxon Switzerland near Dresden. From the spa Rathen brings us a shuttle ferry (yaw ferry) for pedestrians and cyclists across the Elbe. Interesting principle - similar to the roll ferry at Kloster- / Korneuburg, but here is a long steel rope in the water, or it floats attached to buoys. Then we went back along a lake where the "Schwedenlöcher" started. The Schwedenlöcher are a gorge-like side gorge of the Amselgrundes, which originated by erosion in the sandstone. Here we felt again thousands of steps upwards. Really exciting and varied, you always have new impressions.Once at the top you have a great view over to the Bastei or to the Bastei bridge, where Bastei is the rock formation. This is also the main attraction in Saxon Switzerland, which is why you should rather not be on the weekend. Everything else can be found on the net. At least I have the predicate "worth seeing" from me.The whole thing can be combined well with a visit to the fortress Königstein. We were there, but now not part of the tour, but only by car.The fortress Königstein is one of the largest mountain fortresses in Europe and is located in the midst of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains on the Table Mountain above the village Königstein on the left bank of the Elbe in the district Saxon Switzerland-Ore Mountains.

When you think of Dresden and Saxony, many immediately think of Pegida, AFD and the whole Gesocks. A city break in Dresden is really great: The whole old town has been rebuilt, the Frauenkirche rebuilt - where other cities lose more and more of their cityscape, Dresden has managed to rebuild the old cityscape and the flair. One wonders why every newly built building in Vienna always has to look the same. The people in charge should all be sent to Dresden.
So who plans a city break, should definitely plan at least one more day for Saxon Switzerland. The impressions are really sensational and you have to experience it with your own eyes. It is very different than ours, because it is a sandstone mountain. On the trails you can walk in the sand, as if it were not in the mountains, but in Ibiza on the way to the beach. I just quote now de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elbsandsteingebirge:
The characteristic feature of this strongly rugged rocky outcrop is its extraordinary abundance of forms in a confined space. One of the Central European mountain ranges is the ecologically significant constant change of plains, gorges, mesas and rocky areas with preserved closed forest areas. The variety of different locations, each with its own conditions in Reference to soil and microclimate have produced a tremendous biodiversity, but the diversity of ferns and mosses that occur is unmatched by any other German low mountain landscape. "
Tomorrow we will be back there and take a look at the bastion, whose bridge is depicted in the wiki article.

The Schneealpe / Schneealm is especially recommended on hot days. So far, I have always been only on foot on the Schneealpe. And the guesthouse and alpine dairy Lurgbauerhütte is just too far away - that's about 2 hours walk to and fro. And if you were on the Windberg, you want to stop in and not go so far in almost flat. That's why I'm up today with the MTB. I drove by car to the parking lot in the mountains, because from the very bottom it would be brutal and also you get probably a black lung from the gravel toll road (7 € / car). There are nicer routes where you do not have to share the road with cars. However, the driveway with the MTB is difficult even from the end of the toll road, because the road consists of very coarse gravel and you can easily get lost in the steep passages with the tire. But still feasible, a killer tour is not.You will be rewarded with FANTASTIC views, even over the Rax and real alpine feeling. On top of the high plateau you can then give some gas, cross between the cows and cross the whole plateau. What long-sleeved is recommended throughout the year, because you are at just under 1,800m. When the sun goes down, you have a sensed 35 °, but when a cloud pulls in between, you freeze at a felt 15 °. Already refreshing. At the alpine dairy there was beer, tasty cheese spätzle and a second-hand shop, where I took a decent piece of 1-year mountain cheese with me. Nothing for histamine sensitive.Down then the same route, where you just have to be careful because of the gravel. Rear brake was really already on the limit, because the front should be slow only very gently and in well selected places.Tips: Ideally not SA + SO, then less is going on and you have less consideration. What long-sleeved take like a windbreaker, and sunscreen.
