Maybe you're lucky and spot them right in front, or further back between the trees, maybe only on a lap around this large meadow with its 21 hectares: the hard-working landscape gardeners with horns. These cattle of the old breed "Red Höhenvieh" have recently found a piece of home here again. And by grazing and fertilizing the soil, they also create home for many other plant and animal species.
In fact, the cattle are not fed, but only eat what they find here. By the way, cows are not kept in this way either. Modern conservation and agriculture can look old-fashioned. In the area of the pasture the Börniger Bach and a little further north the Landwehrbach flow. Both bodies of water will be renatured by the Emschergenossenschaft in the next few years. Natural and extensive cultivation is particularly important for the development of both streams.
