As part of the "Emscherkunst", Tadashi Kawamata designed an observation tower in 2010, to which a kind of pier system leads. Near the water cross of Emscher and Rhein-Herne-Kanal near Castrop-Rauxel, this "sculpture" offers a beautiful view over the landscape. With the theme "Becoming and passing away" he deals with artists with the constant change and transformation of the area and the Emscher itself. With appropriate foresight the view from the tower is interesting and beautiful to look at. Nice place for a rest.

A change on the Emscher Cycle Path are the different art objects. Here the walk-in observation tower of the Japanese artist Tadashi Kawamata. Even if one is hardly able to recognize the artistic content (the emergence and passing away, past and future) as a layman without explanation, the 12 m high tower is still suitable as a refuge if it rains.
