Bosco Gurin is the highest village (1506 m) and the largest Walser settlement in the canton of Ticino. In the 13th century, the valley near the tree line was settled from the Val Formazza to the west. In the old town center there are still a few very old houses, one of which houses the Walser Museum.

Founded in 1253 by Walser settlers from Valais, Bosco Gurin is a picturesque village in the Maggia Valley district, nestled like a jewel in the Bosco Valley.
At 1504 m above sea level located, it is the highest village in the canton of Ticino and the only Ticino community where German is spoken. Its 60 inhabitants are mainly active in agriculture, but are also employed in the tourist sector: Bosco Gurin is one of the most popular winter sports resorts in the canton
