Bosco Gurin is the highest village (1506 m) and the largest Walser settlement in the canton of Ticino. In the 13th century, the valley was settled near the tree line from the western Val Formazza. In the old center, some very old houses have been preserved, in one is the Walser Museum housed.

Founded in 1253 by Walser settlers from the Valais, Bosco Gurin is a picturesque village in the district of the Maggia Valley, set like a gem in the Boscotal.At 1504 meters above sea level. It is the highest village in the canton of Ticino and the only Ticino municipality where German is spoken. Its 60 inhabitants are mainly active in agriculture, but also busy in the tourist sector: Bosco Gurin is one of the canton's most popular winter sports resorts
