In 1816 Duke Adolf Friedrich von Cambridge, who at that time resided in Hanover as Governor General of Prince Regent Georg IV, had the manor house in Rotenkirchen converted into a hunting lodge, which also included this property as an economic building. Today the house is used by the Leibniz Institute for Applied Geophysics.

The former hunting lodge, which is used for research by various institutions, is a beautiful photo opportunity along the way.
It is also called Schweizerei because it was built in the Alpine style.
