From September 15, 2024, the stamp station 24 of the hiking treasures of the Wild Homeland will be located on the information board in front of the castle ruins.

According to legend, the Löwenburg was built by the Count of Dassel as a hunting lodge. After a change of ownership in 1250, the Welfs took over the castle. From 1399 to 1530 it was the administrative seat of the office of the Dukes of Brunswick-Lüneburg. Today, some pieces of wall and part of the wall of the former building are still there.

Tip along the way: It is worth not only hiking to the castle ruins, but also following the habitat route into the forest. This will take you to the impressive old oak forests above Lauenberg.

Tour tip: Lauenberg hiking car park: "Wilde Burschen" hiking trail (Oak Forest habitat routes LLR and La 1)

A stamp that can be obtained relatively quickly. You don't have to hike far (if you don't want to), but all roads lead up ;)
