The DEVOTIEKAPEL was built in Roermond in 1896 based on a design by the architect Van der Schuit in honor of St. Anna. Van der Schuit was a drawing teacher at the Teekenschool in Roermond.
The chapel is located on an axis with the neighboring Walburg Castle. The predecessor of St. Anna's Chapel was an old chapel that was located in the depths directly on the street. In 1896 it was demolished and the new chapel was built instead. The new St. Anna picture from the studio of Dr. P.J.H. Cuypers was placed above the entrance when the chapel was consecrated on July 26, 1896. In the chapel there is a stone altar, made according to a drawing by the chapel's architect, Van der Schuit.
