As part of their traditional vineyard cottage award, the Rheinhessen wine brotherhood of St. Katharinen honored the Pertel Tower, which the Saulheim winemaker Heinz-Willi Dechent's family built between Saulheim and Partenheim between 2009 and 2011. The imposing tower, which even houses a tasting room, is in a prominent position in the middle of the Nieder-Saulheim Rohrbusch vineyard. From here there is a magnificent view of the Rhenish-Hessian hill country.

With the Pertel Tower, the builder of the Dechent family winery on Schillerstrasse in Saulheim realized a long-held dream that had already developed in childhood. Back then, he was caught in a thunderstorm during a potato harvest, and a vineyard house provided shelter for many farmers and even their livestock that day. This left its mark.
