The crematorium built in 1890/91 by the private "Hamburg-Altona Association for Cremation" is the oldest in Germany. The purpose-built central building is inspired by romantic buildings in Northern Italy. Flachsland Zukunftsschulen GmbH has used it as a daycare center since 2009.
