The largest church in Gerolzhofen is the late Gothic town parish church of St. Maria de Rosario (Mary of the Rosary), affectionately called "Steigerwald Cathedral" by the people of Gerolzhofen. There are also four other church buildings. The parish church can be visited every day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Particularly worth seeing are the excellent baroque furnishings by Joh. Peter Wagner, the depiction of "Mary of the Rosary" with 15 medallions depicting the mysteries of the joyful, painful and glorious rosary (around 1600), the pulpit with late Gothic figures (Christ and four evangelists ), the baptismal font by Peter Wagner from 1783 and a late Gothic glass window from around 1436.

From 1942, only with the knowledge of the pastor Josef Hersam, the church housed the heads of the Frankish apostles Kilian, Kolonat and Totnan in a tower room, who were secretly brought from Würzburg to Gerolzhofen and hidden here. This is how they escaped the bombing of Würzburg on March 16, 1945. The bones were brought back to Würzburg in 1949 as part of a three-day procession.
