Gredl Cycle Path on Former Railway Line

The Gredl cycle path is a varied and easy to ride cycle path between Hilpoltstein and Greding, about 30 km long. Between Hilpoltstein and Thalmässing the "Gredl" runs over 17km on the former railway line from Roth to Greding, a very nice, paved bike path. There is always something to see, old signals, railway buildings, telecommunications boxes, milestones and and and. It's really fun and manageable despite some inclines. The Gredl-Bahn takes its name from the city of Greding, abbreviated to "Gredl".

From Hilpoltstein follow the blue signs "Gredl Radweg" and follow the former railway line to Hofstetten. Through beautiful pine forests it goes past the Swiss mill and fox mill to the former station Heideck-Seiboldsmühle. You cross the state road and can take a break at the rest area in the Rothgrund. With a slight slope and a wonderful view, it goes past the former breakpoints Zell and Eysölden to Alfershausen. In between is the main European watershed, to which a work of art by TVH points. At this point, the flow directions of the surface water in the direction of sins divide into the Black Sea and north into the North Sea. Now the bike path leads parallel to the Thalachgrund to Thalmässing. From here we leave the Gredl cycle path and drive to Stauf, from there towards the starting point.
