Adendorf Castle is actually a castle, namely a moated castle. This can be explained by the fact that the castle, which presumably dates back to the 14th century, has been heavily rebuilt over the centuries. Nowadays it is privately owned, guided tours are possible by arrangement. There are two other castles in the immediate vicinity, namely Burg Gudenau and Burg Münchhausen.
