When the first church was built in Echem, can no longer be determined. The present church was created according to the plans of the church architect Conrad Wilhelm Hase and inaugurated in 1872.
At the center of this church stands the altar with a large crucifix in the middle. At the transition from the sanctuary to the nave, the pulpit rises to the left. Many elements of Gothic cathedrals can be discovered in this visually appealing church. It is considered a masterpiece of neo-Gothic architecture.
