Great slab is one of wonderful Bowfell's most conspicuous features. It can be ascended as part of a route to the summit from the exposed Climbers' Traverse path. In dry conditions, it's a glorious way up, though in wet or icy conditions it becomes much more treacherous.

Impressive rock slab that can be climbed or descended on the route to Bow Fell via the Climbers traverse.

The Great Slab faces north east above the climbers traverse. It is often missed by walkers who come up Bow Fell from Three Tarns or Ore Gap but it is worth seeking out.
The ascent from the climbers traverse is very straightforward in dry conditions but much more challenging in wet or winter conditions.
There are great views into Mickleden from the slab.
