Thunacar Knott is a Wainwright fell in the Central Lake District. According to Wainwright, ‘Thunacar Knott is completely unphotogenic…this uninspiring characteristic extends to the whole fell, which is quite deficient in interest.’

On this basis, you wonder why he included it in his guidebooks! But, I do love the view to the two classic mountains of Bowfell and Great Gable from here.

Slightly boggy, but still a great little fell to visit if you have already done some of the Langdales. Especially great for just after you have climbed Pavey Ark (or just before)
