Of the charismatic Langdale Pikes, the citadels of crag that tower dramatically above Great Langdale, Loft Crag is probably the least ostentatious. Neighbouring Harrison Stickle is all bulk and muscle, while Pike of Stickle is the shapely, attention-grabbing one. Loft Crag, rising up between its two siblings, is more subtle with its charms, though it is no less spellbinding for it.

    Hiking

Loft Crag is one of the fells collectively known as the Langdale Pikes. I particularly love the view of this mountain from it's neighbour, Pike of Stickle. Loft Crag is 2,238 feet (682 m) in height and the views to the surrounding Langdale Pikes from the top are outstanding. I paused for 20 minutes to enjoy some home baked lemon drizzle cake here whilst looking across to Harrison Stickle. The sight of Windermere in the distance is also a great view from the summit.

    Running

Loft Crag is a minor summit as part of the Langdale Pikes. Normally run on the way up to Harrison Stickle from Great Langdale. Great views from the 682 m summit, especially of rocky Pike of Stickle.
