The coral limestone stone chambers were created more than 250 million years ago in the Upper Devonian as corals and were washed out in the following epochs of the water. They were used as living and burial caves in the La Tene period (circa 400 years BC). Finds from these caves are mostly kept in the Landesmuseum Wiesbaden.
