The Koralenkalk stone chamber was created over 250 million years ago in the Upper Devonian as corals and were washed out in the following eras by the water. They were used as living and burial caves in the La Tene period (about 400 years BC). Finds from these caves are mostly kept in the Landesmuseum Wiesbaden.

The small and large stone chamber are located in the nature reserve "Erdbacher Caves". High on the valley side, some of the fossil parts of the Erdbachhöhlensystem were exposed by the weather and partially destroyed by erosion.
